Modern medicines have become chemical and un-natural, mainly masking problems and causing other underlying problems. The medical industry does it this way for the sake of profit. They will make more off of sick patients then they will by healing them. As grotesque as it is, that is the way it has been for a while... calling poison "healthcare" to trick the people into thinking that they need it, when successful medicinal practices have existed for ages. With that said, we can put medicines into different "categories" to describe them and their benefits.
-Food
-Mind-altering substances
-Natures "poisons"
-Fermented beverages
Please notice that all of these things are provided by the earth itself. Things that are supported by nature develop certain "defense" mechanisms and genetic make-ups that will benefit the human body. This is what the ancients knew, and they lived for long periods of time in perfect health while maintaining their youth.
-Food: Being packed full of nutrients that are drawn from the soil, air and water and produced through photosynthesis and other means, healthy, organic foods will build up your immune system and the physical make-up of your body, ensuring that you will not be susceptible to disease and illness. It is real "preventative healthcare". With that said, people are often given food that is deprived of nutrients and even filled with disease causing things. That is a product of invasion of corporate entities into the food industry. It has taken something that is already complete and broke it down into something useless and destructive. These modified foods in many cases are actually detrimental to your health. The only way to use food as medicine is to get it fresh out of the ground or off of an animal, without the addition of harsh substances. You can call it eating "all -natural".
-Mind-altering substances: The foolish legal system that we follow today calls these things drugs to give them a negative connotation and to provide a means for profit through the prosecution of users and sellers. This has been short-lived though. Probably the biggest reasons why these things are good for you is because the mind play a huge role in your health, having energetic effects on the body through the emotions and hormonal balance. But, these substances also have powerful physical effects. They are known sedatives/stimulants (depending on what you need at the time). They are known painkillers, known muscle relaxers, and known nerve tonics. Its a shame that the best of these substances are considered highly illegal. I can name a few of them just to give an idea: marijuana, opium, coca, mushrooms, ayahuasca. The medical industry actually uses opiates, but again the positive effects are canceled out by the addition of fillers and chemicals. Using these substances also provides a way toward spiritual healing, since they open mental doorways and barriers that might otherwise go unnoticed. These things have also been known to fully cure or help cure the worst diseases such as cancer and AIDS.
