Today I was walking the interstate. I do it often actually, because sooner or later someone will take pity on me and pick me up and take me where they're going. I hear that buzz you hear when a car rides slightly off the highway and hits the bumps and look behind me to see a purple colored state patrol car pulling up behind me. He gets out of his car with his hand on his tazer and I look back at him dumbfounded like, 'how many fucking times are these guys gonna bother me?' The answer is a lot... I've been bugged by the cops a lot on my road travels, not just on the highway, but in city, small towns, and even hanging out at gas stations or businesses that weren't so "people friendly".
Anyway, he walks up to me and says, "Hello, its illegal to walk on the interstate sir." Sorry officer... You have to tell me things like that because I'm not FUCKING BOTHERING ANYONE!!! He pulls out a notepad and asks me for my name and I respond, "I'm gonna exercise my rights and say no on that one."
"If you don't give me your name I'm gonna take me to jail or write you a ticket." (HOW CAN HE WRITE ME A FUCKING TICKET IF HE DOESN'T HAVE MY NAME!)
"Oh really?"
"Yes sir, if that's the game you wanna play then your getting a ticket or I'm taking you to jail, that's the way its gonna work..."
"No games sir, I'm just trying to get where I'm going."
"Well its illegal to walk here, I'm willing to let you walk on but you're gonna have to give me your name so I can check to see if you have any warrants, do you know why I pulled you over?"
(Well you didn't pull me over since I'm WALKING AND NOT IN A FUCKING CAR!!!)"Yes I do sir, because its your job."
"How are we doing this?"
"I'll give you my name if I really have to, but I don't wanna be touched... I've had my name run a thousand times and I know how this works... Its (blahblahblah take the fucking info even though you should be minding your business)." He gets back in the car, runs my name, gets back out and says, "Ok, you can walk on sir, just stay off the highway and walk the ditch to the on-ramp."
"Alright, have a good one."
We have here in America... certain "in-alienable rights", however its clear that the cops can do WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT. I shouldn't have to surrender my information or personal privacy to anyone that I don't want to give the information to, but clearly that's not the case. A cops duty is to protect and serve, meaning that I am subject to their will when I HARM ANOTHER PERSON, which I was clearly not doing. Its technically illegal to pull people over and give them tickets too for that reason, but they do that because every police station has a quota to fill so they can make their money. Guess our tax dollars aren't enough. Your average person fears the police officers and lays down for them just because they have a toolbelt full of deadly harmful weapons. We can't effect any change in the procedures of the police departments because we don't have the right title. What would be a better response to this problem we're facing?
